Sameer Prabhu

Sameer Prabhu, MathWorks
As the director of industry marketing, Sameer manages a worldwide team of marketing managers who lead the effort to foster the adoption of MathWorks products for Technical Computing and Model-Based Design across vertical industries. He has over twenty years of experience applying MathWorks products in various application areas and, prior to joining MathWorks, Sameer has engaged in the research and development of complex control systems through his work at Visteon, Caterpillar, and Tata Motors. His efforts have been documented through United States patents and in global publications. Sameer has a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Mumbai and received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Duke University, specializing in robotic controls and artificial intelligence. He also holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Gary Ferries

Gary Ferries, General Motors
Gary Ferries has been working in the area of computer-aided control system engineering for nearly 35 years with General Motors. His current position is Technical Fellow–Control Systems CAE Process & Tools in the Global Vehicle Electrical Software and Controls department. He has worked on a wide variety of control applications, including servohydraulic press controls, robot controls, active and semi-active suspension control, body computers, vehicle stability control, and active safety. He is currently responsible for developing model-driven strategies for designing, generating, and verifying application software components. Gary is the Vice Chairman of the North American MathWorks Automotive Advisory Board (NA-MAAB) and the Chair of the NA-MAAB Style Guidelines Working Group. He has a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from General Motors Institute and a master of science degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Nathan Fitzgerald

Nathan Fitzgerald, John Deere
Nathan Fitzgerald is the PV&V lead in the Engine Controls Group for John Deere Power Systems in Waterloo, Iowa. He is responsible for physical test equipment considerations, as well as model-based tools used for controls development and verification. In this role, he also manages the processes that prescribe the unit-level testing and system-level testing performed on engine control software. Before joining John Deere in 2010, Nathan spent 10 years as a systems engineer in the aerospace industry, specifying and testing avionics software for both commercial and military applications.

Heath Hofmann

Heath Hofmann, University of Michigan
Dr. Hofmann is currently an associate professor at the University of Michigan. His research area is power electronics, specializing in the design, analysis, and control of electromechanical systems. Specific interests are propulsion drives for electric and hybrid electric vehicles, energy harvesting, flywheel energy storage systems, and numerical analysis techniques for electromechanical devices. Dr. Hofmann received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Danaan Metge

Danaan Metge, BPG Werks
Danaan Metge works with other engineers on BPG’s latest product, the DTV Shredder. He previously worked on the mechanical aspects of the UNO and was one of two test riders for it. He began his career at BPG as a controls engineer, writing code and testing electromechanical systems. Before joining BPG, he worked at Bechtel Power Corporation in Frederick, Maryland. Danaan graduated from Duke University in 2009 with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. In his spare time, he rides and fixes motorcycles.

Tony Mansour

Tony Mansour, Lear Corporation
Tony Mansour is a principal engineer for Lear’s EPMS (Electrical Power Management Systems) division in Southfield. He has 35 years experience working with OEMs, systems integrators, and automotive suppliers in the areas of systems engineering, systems analysis, and product development for automotive and industrial embedded real-time devices. Tony is a past chair to the Car Working Group of the Bluetooth SIG. He currently champions the use of engineering tools like Polyspace products for the improvement of software quality in embedded controllers.Tony has a BSEE from University of Detroit, a MSCE from Oakland University, and has completed post-graduate work in computer science at Wayne State University. His research involves the application of emotional intelligence to distributed artificial intelligence, and using these techniques for reducing ambiguity in the requirements for complex systems.

Bill Ortner

Bill Ortner, Autoliv Corporation
Bill Ortner serves as the global software engineering director for Autoliv Inc., a major global supplier providing safety electronics solutions to the world’s automotive vehicle industry. Bill is currently responsible for Autoliv’s global software process improvement and implementation plan, and also leads their global AUTOSAR development strategy. He has worked at Autoliv for 7 years leading process improvement in all electronic activities, restraints, and active safety products. Bill has 31 years of experience in the software engineering field of design, development, process improvement, and management. Prior to joining Autoliv, he worked at Ford Motor Company and Visteon Corporation for 15 years in the product domains of driver instrumentation, audio, and climate control electronics. Prior to joining Ford Motor Company, Bill worked in the telecommunications field for 9 years. He holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.

Brad Hieb

Brad Hieb, MathWorks
Brad is an application engineer at MathWorks, focusing on control design. Prior to joining MathWorks, Brad worked for Ford Motor Company for 14 years. His Ford experience comprised powertrain controls design, vehicle controls for Ford’s Formula 1 racing group (including two years at Pi Research in the UK), and vehicle dynamics simulation, tools and methods work. Prior to Ford, Brad worked for several years as a logic design engineer at Cray Research in Chippewa Falls, WI. Brad holds a M.S.E. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a B.S. from Iowa State University, both in electrical engineering.

Arvind Jayaraman

Arvind Jayaraman, MathWorks
Arvind is a software engineer at the MathWorks. His focus area is supporting customers on complex deployment of Model-Based Design, automatic code generation, and embedded software verification and validation. For four years, Arvind has worked to support several AUTOSAR code generation projects using the AUTOSAR Target. He is also the lead developer of the AUTOSAR Target Production Package, which supports additional AUTOSAR features for advanced production needs.

Shaun Kalinowski

Shaun Kalinowski, MathWorks
Shaun joined MathWorks as a PCG applications engineer in 2008. Before coming to MathWorks, he developed prototype RF transmitters for WCDMA cell phones at Motorola and developed RF embedded DSP systems for automotive radio receivers at Visteon. Shaun has a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.

Grant Martin

Grant Martin, MathWorks
Grant is a senior team leader in the Application Engineering group. Grant and his team are responsible for the computer vision and image processing application areas as well as signal processing code generation applications with both C and HDL. Prior to joining MathWorks, Grant worked at Sandia National Laboratories developing real-time synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging algorithms. Grant has also performed research in the area of medical imaging and taught signal processing with MATLAB at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Grant has a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico (UNM), where he specialized in image/signal processing and algorithm design.

Vinod Reddy

Vinod Reddy, MathWorks
Vinod is the consultant services manager for MathWorks. He specializes in helping organizations apply Model-Based Design to develop and verify embedded systems. He has worked with world-leading companies with a wide range of applications, including aerospace, defense, and automotive, to implement Model-Based Design and improve their related development processes. Vinod has over 20 years of experience in developing embedded software in the telecommunications and automotive industries. His experience includes extensive work in control system design, embedded software and systems, and code generation tools.

Greg Wolff

Greg Wolff, MathWorks
Greg is an application engineer at MathWorks, where he concentrates on C-code generation for embedded processors. With a background in mechanical engineering and a great interest in software development, he spends a lot of time demonstrating how these two different engineering disciplines can work to develop products based on system simulations in a robust and efficient manner.
