Day 1: Jim Tung, The MathWorksJim Tung is a MathWorks Fellow, focusing on business and technology strategy and analysis. Jim has more than 25 years experience in the technical computing software markets, including 20 years at The MathWorks, where he previously held the positions of vice president of marketing and vice president of business development. Earlier in his career, Jim held marketing and sales management positions at Lotus Development and Keithley DAS, a pioneering manufacturer of PC-based data acquisition systems. Jim holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University. |

Day 2: Professor Lennart Ljung, Director of the Modeling, Visualization, and Information Integration (MOVIII) Strategic Research CenterLennart Ljung received his Ph.D. in Automatic Control from Lund Institute of Technology in 1974. He has been Professor of the Chair of Automatic Control at Linköping University in Sweden since 1976 and is currently Director of the Modeling, Visualization, and Information Integration (MOVIII) Strategic Research Center. He has held visiting positions at Stanford and MIT and has written several books on system identification and estimation. Ljung is an IEEE Fellow, an IFAC Fellow, and an IFAC Advisor as well as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (KVA), a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), an Honorary Member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering, and a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE). He has received honorary doctorate degrees from Baltic State Technical University in St. Petersburg; Uppsala University, Sweden; the Technical University of Troyes, France; the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium; and Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. He received the Quazza Medal from IFAC in 2002, the Hendrik W. Bode Lecture Prize from the IEEE Control Systems Society in 2003, and the IEEE Control Systems Award for 2007. |
