Introduction to MATLAB Workshopnew

Seminar Overview

Speeding up MATLAB Applications Graphic

Join us at this complimentary workshop to learn about core MATLAB® and Image Processing concepts and how they can be applied directly for data analysis, visualisation, and algorithm development.

This workshop will be conducted in a training room with desktop computers containing the latest installation of the MathWorks software. During the workshop, an experienced MathWorks engineer will show you how you can use MATLAB to explore and understand your data. You will be shown a new way to rapidly iterate on design ideas to develop a working algorithm. Not only will you come away with a new appreciation of the power of MATLAB, but you will also identify with its ease of use. Each attendee will be assigned to your own PC workstation and will be allowed to work through the case study, at your own pace.

While the examples come from an image processing standpoint, MATLAB’s power and flexibility provides interfaces to take in and work with data from several environments.

Please note: This is a free workshop with a class size limit of 12 participants. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Online registration prior to the workshop is essential.

No prior MATLAB experience is assumed or necessary.

Seminar Highlights

The case study used in the workshop demonstrates some of the image processing functionalities of MATLAB and the Image Processing Toolbox. We will look at an image difference detection example. The goal is to create an algorithm that would take two images, detect differences between them and then highlight the results. The sections that will be discussed are:

  • File I/O
  • Image Visualisation
  • Image Exploration (in MATLAB)
  • Image Arithmetic
  • Image Exploration (IMTOOL)
  • Image Thresholding
  • Morphological Operations
  • Identification
  • Final Display
