Optical Networking Design
Optical networks use pulses of infrared light over optical fibers to carry data, voice, or video signals over long distances with high reliability. Optical networking designers focus on developing and deploying key infrastructure equipment for access, metro, and long-haul networks. This includes equipment for DWDM, optical amplification, all-optical network configurations, and link transmission optimization.
MathWorks tools are used to tackle a variety of design challenges such as component modeling at the level of device physics and signal processing techniques such as wavelength conversion, multiplexing, and waveform generation. Modeling and simulation with MATLAB® and Simulink® environments give designers the ability to predict network performance and make definitive design choices early in the development cycle.
