Linearizing Simulink Models
With Simulink Control Design you can linearize continuous, discrete, and multirate Simulink models without modifying the model structure. Using linearization I/Os and loop openings (signal annotations) you can linearize the whole model, a portion of the model, or a single block or subsystem. The signal annotations can be used for open- and closed-loop analysis. They do not affect your model's behavior.
To perform a linearization, you simply specify the following:- Linearization I/Os for the inputs and outputs of the linear model to be computed
- Loop openings to define where to open feedback loops for open-loop analysis
- Operating point to be used for linearization
Simulink Control Design then automatically computes the linearized model and presents the results in the LTI Viewer. You can graphically inspect and verify the linearized model and each individual block using the Linearization Inspector.
Simulink Control Design lets you export and save linearized models and operating points to the MATLAB workspace for additional analysis or to enhance your control design with advanced tools from the Robust Control Toolbox or the Model Predictive Control Toolbox (both available separately).
