Simulink Response Optimization 3.2

Product Description

Introduction

Simulink Response Optimization lets you optimize the behavior of systems modeled in Simulink by tuning the design parameters through numerical optimization. You can optimize the closed-loop performance of control systems, from PID controllers to multi-loop architectures. You can easily factor in design requirements expressed in terms of rise time, settling time, overshoot, and saturation limits. Simulink Response Optimization lets you tune the coefficients of signal processing and communication algorithms, and achieve behavioral characteristics such as peak power consumption, range of mechanical motion, or data packet loss.

When used with the Control System Toolbox and Simulink Control Design, Simulink Response Optimization can be used to tune multi-loop linear control systems. You can specify a variety of time- and frequency-domain requirements (including gain and phase margins) on the open- and closed-loop response plots, and optimize the control system parameters to enforce these requirements.

Key Features

  • Optimizes time-domain responses of nonlinear Simulink models
  • Optimizes time- and frequency-domain responses of linear control systems (with the Control System Toolbox, available separately)
  • Lets you specify bounds on responses by graphically shaping the desired responses
  • Tunes scalar-, vector-, or matrix-valued parameters
  • Supports Monte Carlo optimization for robust tuning of systems with uncertain or varying parameters
  • Provides an interactive graphical workflow for setting up and managing optimization runs
You can tune the responses of linearized models to meet time- and frequency-based requirements (yellow portions of plot, above left). Simulink Response Optimization provides a Signal Constraint block that lets you tune the response of your Simulink model (above right). Click on image to see enlarged view.
